Rustic Borneo

Rustic Borneo Craft Social Entrepreneurial was venture founded by Melissa Alut Lim, a “Green Batch Licensed Guide” who was deeply involved in connecting eco-travellers with nature, local communities, and the indigenous people of Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. Rustic Borneo empowers indigenous communities, particularly B40 women and persons with disabilities (OKU – Orang Kurang Upaya), while preserving cultural heritage and utilizing abundant natural resources in a sustainable way.

The establishment of Rustic Borneo Arts & Crafts started with the intention to promote and distribute sustainable products from the indigenous people of Borneo. We believe in contributing to eliminate poverty. We aim to build the capacity of the local communities in Borneo by utilizing the natural resources of the Rainforest.

In light with that, we created the words –“Empowering the Indigenous People –through Borneo Rainforest”

Rustic Borneo is about supplying the best of Sabah’s raw material, supplying them from upstream into downstream product where end users can benefit from anywhere around the world. Key products include traditional wellness items such as herb-infused massage oils, hotel amenities, and handmade soaps believed to promote holistic healing within local communities.

For over eight years, we have passionately developed a supply chain rooted in the lush Borneo Rainforest and enriched through partnerships that empower local communities. Our commitment goes beyond the Triple Bottom Line; we are dedicated to achieving a cradle-to-cradle product lifecycle, ensuring sustainability at every step of our production process.

With our partners, we are not only enhancing tourist or guests’ comfort but also supporting a journey toward a more sustainable future. Elevate the guest experience with Sabah’s authentic warmth and charm, delivered through our thoughtfully curated amenities. Let us be a part of your success, helping you set a new standard in unique, memorable hospitality.
